BRENHAM, Texas – Sophomore shortstop Jake Kane got the Blinn Buccaneers started with a home run, and the offense just kept coming Wednesday night in a 10-3 victory over South Suburban (Ill.) at Leroy Dreyer Field.
Kane went 2-for-3 with two RBIs and freshman Eric Wood scored twice and drove in a pair of runs as the Buccaneers picked up the non-conference victory. J.C. Neighbors went 2-for-4 with two RBIs and Garrett Logan went 2-for-2 with an RBI.
The Bucs (13-8) scored four first-inning runs, then rallied for five runs in the fourth. They finished with nine hits in six innings.
Kyle Mueller earned the win, allowing three earned runs over five innings. Mueller worked around eight hits and four walks and struck out seven.
Brandon Kirkham threw two scoreless innings.
Blinn returns to Region XIV Conference play Friday with a 1 p.m. game at Galveston College, and hosts Galveston for a 1 p.m. double-header on Saturday.
