BRENHAM – For the third consecutive week, the Blinn Buccaneer football team maintains the top spot in the NJCAA Top 20 National Poll, following a thrilling 40-37 homecoming victory over previously No. 8 ranked Trinity Valley Community College this past Saturday at Cub Stadium in Brenham.
However, the Bucs (7-0, 4-0 SWJCFC) lost one of their five first-place votes to No. 3 East Mississippi Community College, even after charting their second win over an undefeated top-10 team in the past three weeks. The Bucs earned 137 points with No. 2 Arizona Western close behind with 133 points and two first place votes. All three teams are currently undefeated on the season.
This year the Bucs’ offense is averaging a conference best 512 yards and 56 points per game. Nationally, the Bucs are fourth overall in total offense, ranking fourth in rushing with 273 yards per game, and just outside the top ten in passing with 239 yards per contest.
The Bucs look to add to their current eight game winning streak as they travel to Kilgore to face the Rangers this Saturday. The Rangers (2-5, 1-4 SWJCFC) are coming off a 56-20 non-conference win over Arkansas Baptist College. Kick-off is scheduled for 3 p.m.
