NAVARRO, Texas -- The Navarro Bulldogs brought the heat and the Blinn men’s basketball team wasn’t able to put out the flame here Monday night.
The Bulldogs torched the Buccaneers behind the 3-point line en route to a 96-84 victory.
“Navarro played a very, very good basketball game,” Blinn (12-5, 3-4 Region XIV) coach Scott Schumacher said. “They shot the ball well and really hurt us on the offensive glass.”
Those offensive rebounds often led to buckets behind the arc, where Navarro drained 15 3-pointers in the game.
“Of those, five or six came off an offensive rebound,” Schumacher said.
Sophomore Macari Brooks scored 20 points for Blinn, while Eddie Alcantara added another 17 and Jalan McCloud scored 11.
Blinn stayed within 10 points of Navarro for much of the second half after trailing 49-44 at halftime, but could never make a serious run at the Bulldogs’ lead.
“I thought our guys competed and played hard, but we just ran into a buzz saw tonight,” Schumacher said.
