The Blinn Buccaneer defense picked off three passes and held Southeast Prep Academy to 83 yards of total offense in a 55-7 victory Saturday night at Cub Stadium.
Ryan Flannigan picked off two passes, Scott Middleton grabbed another and Kyle Holmes tallied three sacks as the Buccaneers (1-2) picked up their first victory of the young season.
Southeast Prep averaged just 1.3 yards per play.
The Buccaneers piled up 236 rushing yards on the night as Jericho Worrell ran for 84 yards and a touchdown, Spencer Cowley ran for 78 yards and two scores and Klartel Claridy added 64 yards and two more touchdowns.
Freshman quarterback Logan Vinklarek completed 10 of 20 passes for 175 yards and two touchdowns. Darrion Landry was his favorite target, catching five passes for 91 yards and a touchdown, and Dean Johnson hauled in a 27-yard touchdown strike.
Blinn led 28-0 at halftime as Southeast Prep fell to 0-2 on the season.
The Buccaneers open Southwest Junior College Football Conference play next week when they travel to Miami, Okla. for a 7 p.m. game against Northeastern Oklahoma A&M on Sept. 14.
