Federwisch throws second shutout in as many days
Sophomore throws three hitter as Bucs split with Dolphins
ALVIN, Texas – Sophomore pitcher Kaci Federwisch threw her second shutout in as many days Saturday, leading the eight-ranked Blinn College softball team to an 8-3 victory over Alvin Community College.
Alvin won the second game of the double-header, 4-3.
Federwisch improved to 13-3 on the season with a three-hit shutout in the first game of the twin bill. The win came one day after she threw a one-hit shutout against Iowa Lakes on Friday.
Sophomore catcher Brittney Krchnak went 3-for-3 with two RBIs and Kristina Davila went 2-for-3 and drove in a run. Thomasina Garza and Michelle Svehla each hit RBI doubles, while Leandra Maly and Tiffani McKnight each had a pair of hits and Shelbe Sterling drove in a run.
Alvin won the second game thanks to four unearned runs. Freshman Shannon Sain took her first loss of the season, making her 8-1 on the year, and Caitie Carney threw the final three innings.
The Buccaneers are now 26-5 on the season and 3-1 in the Region XIV Conference. The Buccaneers host San Jacinto for a 4 p.m. conference double-header at Hohlt Park in Brenham on Wednesday.
