BRENHAM, TX -- The Blinn Buccaneers showed the Angelina Roadrunners why they’re tied for the Region XIV Conference lead Wednesday night.

Six Buccaneers scored in double digits and the defense allowed just 23 points in the first half on their way to a 104-66 victory over the Roadrunners at the Blinn P.E. Building.

Blinn came into the night in a three-way tie for the Region XIV South Zone lead with San Jacinto and Lamar State-Port Arthur, and the 38-point victory was the Buccaneers’ largest conference win this season.

“We really came out with intensity defensively,” head coach Tra Arnold said. “It was a good team win and everyone got to contribute. I was glad to see all the guys get in and help.”

Titus Rubles led the Buccaneers with 22 points while Daishon Knight added 19. Joel Wright and Craig Smith each had 11 points, and Dre Evans and Miles Dixon reached double digits with 10 points apiece.
“Night in and night out it’s somebody different,” Arnold said. “That’s what makes us good.”

All but one player on the Buccaneer roster scored.
“Our defense gave us opportunities. That was the game plan, to defend them and then get out and push the ball and get easy looks in transition,” Arnold said.

The win improved the Buccaneers to 22-5 on the season and 12-4 in conference play.

Blinn hosts Kilgore College at 4 p.m. Saturday in the Blinn P.E. Building.
