BRENHAM, TX -- Blinn College sophomore Verne’qua ‘NeNe” Taylor and freshman Audrisa Harrison will share the 2011 Don Wilhelm Award for being the Most Valuable Players on the women’s basketball team. The award, named for Blinn’s retired athletic director who served the college for 10 years, honors the team’s leaders on the court.
Taylor, a 5-5 point guard from Wharton averaged 9.45 and 6.1 assists a game. Taylor was the seventh in the nation in assists. She was also named to the Region XIV All-Conference team this year and will continue her collegiate career at Texas A&M Corpus Christi in the fall.
Harrison, a 5’9 forward from Coldspring, Texas, was the leading scorer for the 2010-2011 Lady Bucs, averaging 10.6 points per game, shooting 51 percent from the floor and averaging 6.74 rebounds a game. She was named to the Region XIV All-Conference team this year as a freshman.
The Women’s basketball team ended the 2010-2011 season with an overall 18-13 record.
