NEO tops Blinn in battle of top-10 teams
Buccaneer softball concludes tournament Sunday
BRENHAM, Texas – The Blinn College softball team isn’t easing its way into the 2012 season.
The Buccaneers, who enter the season ranked fourth in the nation, faced their second consecutive top-10 team here Saturday, falling to 10th-ranked Northeastern Oklahoma A&M 12-6 at the Blinn Round Robin at Hohlt Park.
Blinn reshman Kristina Davila hit a two-run home run, sophomore outfielder Michelle Svehla went 2-for-4 with a pair of RBIs and Brooke Riemann went 2-for-4. Tommy Garza also drove in a run for the Buccaneers.
Sophomore pitcher Jocelyn Tacquard (1-1) took the loss.
Blinn fell to 2-2 on the season, with its other loss coming against eighth-ranked Temple College.
The Buccaneers conclude tournament play Sunday with a noon rematch against NEO and a 4 p.m. game against Navarro College.
