GALVESTON, TX -- The 11th-ranked Blinn College softball team hit three home runs and picked up two more wins in a Region XIV Conference double-header against the Galveston White Caps here Wednesday afternoon.
The Buccaneers won the first game 14-5 before taking the second game 8-4.
Sophomore Kaci Federwisch earned the win in the opener to improve to 14-5 on the season. Thomasina Garza launched a home run in the first inning and Shelbe Sterling added a two-run blast in the seventh to spark the Buccaneer offense.
Caitie Carney (5-0) earned the win in the second game, throwing five innings before Federwisch came on to close out the game in the sixth.
Kristina Riley drove in a pair of runs in the third and Michelle Svehla drove in two more in the fifth. Kristina Davila added a three-run home run on a two-strike count with two outs in the sixth inning.
The wins improved the Buccaneers to 28-7 on the season and 5-3 in the Region XIV Conference.
The Buccaneers return to the diamond Friday when they travel to Port Arthur for a 1 p.m. double-header against Lamar State.
