The top-ranked Blinn Buccaneer football team finished the regular season with a perfect 9-0 record, after a thrilling 39-37 road win over Cisco Junior College Saturday afternoon.
After a scoreless first quarter, the Bucs scored three times in the second to take a 21-13 halftime lead.
Cisco would lead 30-28 after three quarters, then with 11:25 to play in the fourth Blinn would score on a 38-yard touchdown pass from redshirt freshman quarterback Eric Matthews (Brookshire Royal) to sophomore receiver Kyle Aubuchon (Hebron) to give the Bucs a 36-30 lead. After Cisco took a 37-36 lead on a three-yard touchdown run, they would stop the Bucs and seemingly have the game in their hands. However, on fourth down from their own 30-yard line, Cisco attempted a fake punt that was intercepted by the Bucs with 1:31 left in the game. The Bucs would then kick a game-winning field goal from 19 yards out as time expired to give them the one point victory, and secure an undefeated regular season.
As conference champions, the Bucs will now host the first round SWJC playoff game this Saturday at Cub Stadium in Brenham. Kick-off is set for 7 p.m.
