PARIS, TX -- Paris Junior College’s Anthony Adams hit a 19-foot shot as the buzzer sounded in overtime to lift the Dragons past the Blinn Buccaneers 66-64 here Wednesday night in Region XIV action.
Blinn trailed by 12 points early in the second half but fought its way back into the ballgame behind 16 points from Daishon Knight and another 15 from Elijah Jones. With five seconds to go in regulation, the Buccaneers hit what appeared to be the game-winning shot but were whistled for traveling.

“I thought our guys stuck to what we do and we played hard,” Blinn (15-4, 5-3 in Region XIV) coach Tra Arnold said. “It was unfortunate we didn’t come out with the win, but that’s life on the road in Region XIV. You’ve got to be almost perfect to win on the road.”
Joel Wright added 13 points for the Bucs, while Phil Hawkins led Paris with 15 points.

Blinn had won nine of its last 10 games heading into the contest.
“We had a chance to win at the end,” Arnold said. “It just didn’t go our way.”

The Buccaneers continue Region XIV play Saturday when they host Panola College at 4 p.m. at the Blinn P.E. Building.
