PARIS, Texas – The Paris Lady Dragons held the Blinn Buccaneer offense in check like no team has this season.
Paris defeated Blinn’s women’s basketball team 63-45 here Wednesday night while holding the Buccaneers to their lowest point total of the season. Blinn had scored at least 54 points in their first 17 games of the season.
“I think their defense definitely put us out of sync,” Blinn (14-4, 3-4 Region XIV Conference) coach Jeff Jenkins said. “They’re very talented defensively and it was not easy to get a shot off tonight.”
Sophomore guards Miki Turner and Alycea Price each scored 10 points for the Buccaneers, but Paris outscored Blinn 29-2 in the paint.
“They have big, athletic posts and big, athletic guards and they made us try to score from the perimeter,” Jenkins said. “I really believe they’re the best team we’ve played so far.”
Denise White and Rebekah Cluley each scored eight points and Joslinn Douglas added seven for the Bucs.
Paris led 21-17 at halftime.
The Buccaneers continue Region XIV play Saturday when they host Panola College at 2 p.m. at the Blinn P.E. Building.
