LONGVIEW, Texas – The fourth-ranked Blinn College softball team got impressive performances from three different pitchers to win all three of their games at the Region XIV Crossover Tournament here Saturday.
Blinn defeated Lon Morris 4-0, Navarro 5-1 and Trinity Valley 3-2.
Caitie Carney (3-0) earned the win over Lon Morris with a two-hit shutout. The Bucs scored all four of their runs in the top of the seventh inning as sophomore Ryann Jones sparked the offense with a two-run double.
Kaci Federwisch (8-3) earned the win over Navarro, striking out eight without granting a walk.
Carney and Jones both drove in second-inning runs, and in the sixth Kristina Davila drove in a run and Carney homered.
Shannon Sain (7-0) earned the win and Federwisch earned the save in the day’s final game against Trinity Valley. Sain helped her own cause with a three-run homer.
The Buccaneers, who won two tournament games Friday, are now 5-0 for the tournament.
Blinn (19-4) concludes tournament play Sunday with a 9 a.m. game against Northeast Texas and an 11 a.m. contest against Midland.
