BRENHAM, TX -- The Blinn Buccaneers have fielded championship-level teams for 118 years. Now they have a championship-caliber website.
Blinn College unveiled the new-look BuccaneerSports.com today, created in partnership with PrestoSports, a leading provider of athletic content management software to colleges and conference offices. The website’s unveiling coincides with the establishment of new Facebook and Twitter pages devoted solely to Blinn athletic news and events.
The new BuccaneerSports.com includes schedules, rosters, news releases, statistics, video interviews and contact information for each sport, as well as information about the Blinn athletic department and organizations that support Blinn’s athletic programs such as the Ex-Students Association and Letterman’s Association. The site can be easily viewed from mobile devices.
“The new website offers a dynamic web presence that will help enhance the overall visibility and exposure of the entire athletic department,” Marketing and Media Relations Director Jeff Tilley said. “With this new platform, we are now able to brand our athletic programs in an exciting, modern format that parallels the elite quality of Blinn College athletics.”
The site will allow Blinn to post game recaps and photography shortly after each event, providing fans up-to-the-minute information about their favorite teams and players, and features video interviews with coaches and players.
“To me, the best thing about the new website is just how close it will bring our fans and community to our athletes,” Athletic Director Scott Schumacher said. “With the click of a button, you will be able to find out that day’s results, see the latest individual and team statistics and even view and purchase photos of the game.”
The new site seamlessly integrates news and events to Facebook and Twitter, helping Blinn athletics reach an even larger audience. The new sites are located at www.facebook.com/BuccaneerSports and twitter.com/BlinnAthletics, respectively.
“Our main focus was to allow our fans and supporters to receive information in a more timely and efficient manner,” Tilley said. “The new site and the social media and mobile platforms that come with it will allow us to accomplish that goal and provide unprecedented access to our programs.”
A member of the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) and the Region XIV Athletic Conference, Blinn has captured national titles in cross country, track and field, football and volleyball, including last season’s Division I volleyball national championship. Blinn was the first NJCAA football team to win back-to-back national championships in 1995 and 1996, and in 2010 Cameron Newton led Blinn football to its fourth national title before going on to win the Heisman Trophy at Auburn University and the NFL rookie of the year award for the Carolina Panthers.
Blinn College serves approximately 18,000 students across its four campuses in Brenham, Bryan, Schulenburg and Sealy.
