Rubles scores 23 in Buccaneer win
Victory marks Blinn’s fifth straight
JACKSONVILLE, Texas – Sophomore forward Titus Rubles scored a game-high 23 points to lead the Blinn Buccaneers to their fifth straight win here Saturday, 75-64 over Jacksonville College.
The win improves the Buccaneers to 21-5 overall and 11-4 in the Region XIV Conference.
Daishon Knight scored 13 points, Joel Wright scored 11 and Miles Dixon and Dre Evans each scored 10.
“Hopefully we’re peaking at the right time,” Blinn coach Tra Arnold said. “We’ve just got to continue to get better and get ready to play again Wednesday.”
Blinn led just 34-33 at halftime, and the game stayed close until late, when the Buccaneers pulled away behind a couple big shots from Evans and clutch free throws from Rubles.
“Titus made some good plays down the stretch,” Arnold said. “We got the ball to him inside and he converted his free throws.”
The Buccaneers will play back-to-back home games at the Blinn P.E. Building this week, hosting Angelina College for a 5:30 p.m. tip-off Wednesday and Kilgore College for a 2 p.m. contest Saturday. Three of Blinn’s final four conference games will be played in Brenham.
