Seminole holds Blinn bats in check
Bucs conclude weekend action vs. NCTC at 8 tonight
BRENHAM, Texas – After winning their first two games of their home Round Robin on Friday, the Blinn Buccaneers suffered their first loss of the weekend Saturday afternoon with a 5-2 defeat at the hands of Seminole (Okla.) College.
Jake Kane, Garrett Logan, Quinton Evans and Markus Carr had Blinn’s only hits on the day, as the Buccaneers’ two runs came on a sixth-inning Seminole error.
“I don’t think our numbers really showed the quality of our at-bats,” Blinn coach Harvey McIntyre said. “We hit some balls hard, we just didn’t have success. We didn’t have a lot of opportunities to score and our at-bats with runners in scoring position weren’t what they needed to be.”
Seminole’s five runs came on five hits.
Christian DeLeon took the loss for Blinn, throwing 5 1/3 innings. He allowed four earned runs on four hits and three walks while striking out three. Seminole hit a pair of home runs, both with two strikes.
Taylor Cobb threw 1 2/3 innings in relief without allowing a run. He allowed one hit and struck out two.
“His seventh inning was big for us,” McIntyre said. “He have us a chance to win it.”
Blinn was coming off an 8-0 victory over North Central Texas College on Friday night. Trevor Seidenberger earned the complete-game win, allowing just two hits over seven shutout innings. Jake Kane and D’Andre Heggie each drove in a pair of runs in the win.
The Bucs are now 10-8 on the season.
Blinn plays its final game of the tournament against North Central Texas at 8 tonight.
