Seventh-inning rally lifts Buccaneers, 6-5
Boss scores game winner on passed ball
BRENHAM, Texas – The Blinn Buccaneers rallied for two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to defeat Odessa College 6-5 Friday afternoon in the first game of the Blinn College Round Robin at Leroy Dreyer Field.
Sophomore outfielder Tyler Boss scored the game-winning run on a passed ball to secure the Buccaneers’ first win of the tournament. It was one of two runs Boss scored on the afternoon.
Freshman third baseman Eric Wood went 3-for-3 with an RBI and catcher Garrett Logan went 2-for-3 with an RBI. Sophomores Kevin Daniels and Eric Preuss also drove in runs to help lead the Buccaneers back from a 3-0 deficit after two innings.
Sophomore left-hander Kevin Hahn started the game for the Bucs, allowing three earned runs on five hits and a walk. In the fourth inning, Blinn turned to sophomore right-hander David Rumsey. Rumsey didn’t allow any earned runs over four innings to earn the win.
The Buccaneers are now 9-7 on the season.
Blinn continues tournament play at 8 tonight when it hosts North Central Texas College at Leroy Dreyer Field. The tournament concludes on Saturday with an 11 a.m. game against Seminole and another 8 p.m. contest against North Central Texas.
