Six Buccaneers tabbed for Texas/New Mexico all-star games

Six Blinn College baseball players have been selected to play in the Texas/New Mexico Junior College all-star games held Sept. 28-29 at Concordia University Texas in Austin.
Infielder Quinton Evans (Orangefield), outfielder Hayden Vesely (St. Joseph), outfielder J.C. Neighbors (Clear Springs), catcher Holden Cammack (Grapevine), pitcher Taylor Cobb (Fort Bend Austin) and pitcher Karl Malecek (Argyle) were among 30 players named to the team from the eight junior colleges in the Region XIV Conference South Zone.
Evans hit .265 last season with six doubles, one triple, one homer and 11 RBIs in 83 at-bats last season. Vesely hit .261 with seven doubles, one homer and 20 RBIs and Neighbors hit .263 with one double and 12 RBIs. Cammack hit .255 with two doubles and 16 RBIs.
Cobb went 1-1 with a 4.00 ERA and 22 strikeouts in 18 innings last season. Malecek went 1-3 with a 5.10 ERA and 19 strikeouts over 30 innings.
Blinn went 34-24 last season, including a 21-13 record in conference play.
