For their outstanding efforts in last week’s tournament, three members of the Blinn College softball team were named to the NJCAA Division I Women’s Softball National Championship All-Tournament Team.

Outfielder Alex Yarborough (SO, Boerne) and pitcher Jocelyn Tacquard (FR, Santa Fe) were selected to the All-Tournament team, while designated player Ariel Gomez (SO, Sealy) was named the tournament’s Most Outstanding Offensive Player.

Gomez led the Buccaneers offensively by hitting .476 and driving in seven runs. In six games she had one home run, two doubles and five runs scored.

Yarborough finished the tournament with a .500 batting average (9-18) and seven RBI’s.

In her first national tournament appearance, Tacquard led the Buccaneer to three wins in four appearances. In those games, she pitched 15 innings, giving up only 13 hits and five earned runs, while striking out 11 batters.
