Brenham, TX -- Blinn College baseball players Kevin Daniels, Tyler Boss and Markus Carr announced today that they will continue their playing careers at four-year universities.
Daniels signed with Texas Christian University, Tyler Boss is headed to Oral Roberts University and Carr signed with Oklahoma Christian University.
Eight members of the 2012 Buccaneers have now signed with four-year schools, and another, freshman third baseman Eric Wood, has begun his professional career after being drafted by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the sixth round of the Major League Baseball draft.
Daniels, a sophomore outfielder from St. Joseph’s High School in Victoria, Texas, is coming off an all-conference season in which he batted .336 with six doubles, one triple and 20 RBIs. A mid-season injury limited the second-year starter to 140 at-bats.
As a freshman, Daniels batted .285 with four doubles, two triples and 30 RBIs.
“He had some offers early in the recruiting process but it wasn’t what he wanted to do,” Blinn baseball coach Harvey McIntyre said. “He held out and TCU found a spot for him. He’ll be able to help them immediately as they prepare to enter the Big 12.”
Boss, a sophomore right fielder from Klein, hit .317 this season with 10 doubles, three triples, two homers and 17 RBIs. As a freshman, he hit .309 with 10 doubles, a triple, one home run and 21 RBIs.
“He hit in the middle of the lineup for us for two straight years and he did a dang good job of it,” McIntyre said. “Oral Roberts is a great program and he’ll be a great fit for them. I think he wound up in the right place.”
Oral Roberts is preparing to join the Southland Conference next season.
Carr, a sophomore outfielder, is coming off a season in which he hit .290 with five doubles, two triples, five homers and 25 RBIs. He also stole a team-high 19 bases.
“Markus didn’t play much as a freshman and he had to earn his stripes as a sophomore,” McIntyre said. “He’s a wonderful young man who has worked really hard to put himself in this position.”
Oklahoma Christian, located in Oklahoma City, competes in the NAIA.
Other Buccaneers to sign with four-year schools include pitcher Trevor Seidenberger (TCU), pitcher Christian De Leon (Nebraska), pitcher Jason Simms (Sam Houston State), shortstop Jake Kane (Coastal Carolina) and catcher Garrett Logan (Northwestern State).
