Blinn won the opener 4-2 behind a 10-strikeout performance from sophomore Jason Simms, but lost the second game 3-2 in 10 innings. Simms scattered five hits and two walks in the opener, allowing two earned runs. After Galveston rallied for two runs in the fifth, Blinn rallied for three runs in the top of the seventh to pull out the win. “Jason was outstanding,” Blinn coach Harvey McIntyre said. “To his credit, he just did his job and pitched, and he allowed us to get back in it late.”

Blinn defeated Coastal Bend College 104-70 at Wagstaff Gym behind the strength of a balanced scoring effort, including 19 points from sophomore guard Dre Evans, 18 from sophomore forward Joel Wright, 17 from sophomore guard Miles Dixon, 16 from freshman guard Daishon Knight and 10 from sophomore guard Craig Smith.
