Bryan-College Station, TX (June 1, 2013) –
After sweeping their opening series against the Acadiana Cane Cutters earlier this week, the Bombers showed no signs of slowing their pace as they mowed down the Marshals in Dallas on Saturday.
The action was sluggish through the first three innings, as both the Bombers and the Marshals struggled offensively. However, pitcher Guillermo Trujillo stayed firm on the mound by racking up five strikeouts over the three innings.
Right fielder Graham McIntyre started off the Brazos Valley rally in the top of the fourth by reaching first on a single and advancing to second on an error. Next, shortstop Matt Eureste made it to first on a single while McIntyre reached third on a wild pitch. Catcher Matt Smith was able to bring McIntyre home on a ground out for the first run of the game. Bomber offense remained on fire for the rest of the inning as Matt Eureste, Anthony Soriano, and Connor McMullin were all able to earn on unearned advances, making the score 4-0. The Marshals were unable to return any of the runs in the bottom of the inning with a walk followed by three immediate outs.
The fifth inning brought more cushion room for the Bombers as they increased the score to 6-0. McIntyre, Eureste, and Smith loaded the bases for the Bombers but McIntyre was thrown out at home after a fielder’s choice ball hit by Soriano. Later, center fielder Blake Kopetsky was able to walk in Eureste, then second baseman Patrick McLendon hit a single that allowed Smith to score. The Marshals were still unable to put anything on the board in the bottom of the inning as Trujillo sat them down with some wicked off-speed pitching.
After the fifth inning the score remained 6-0 for the remainder of the night. After Trujillo chalked up 9 strikeouts over seven innings, Logan Burch took the mound to handle a scoreless eighth inning and lefty Andrew Hohn closed the night with a scoreless ninth.
The Bombers are now 3-0 on the season and continue the action on the road tomorrow against the Texas Marshals at 7:05pm. Opening day at American Momentum Ballpark will be on June 4th versus the Woodland Strykers. For all your hospitality and ticket information needs call (979) 779 - PLAY or go to www.bvbombers.com.
