BRYAN -- The Brazos Valley Bombers erased a 3-0 deficit and came back to beat the East Texas Pump Jacks 7-5 in the first game of a best-of-three TCL first round playoff series.
The Pump Jacks scored two in the first and another in the third to build a 3-0 lead, but the Bombers rallied in their half of the fifth.
Brennyn Smith singled to plate Texas Aggie Jacob House to make it a 3-1 game. Then the Bombers pulled within 3-2 on Cameron Dullnig's sacrifice fly that plated Sam Houston State Bearkat Greg Olson. Brazos Valley then tied it on a double from John Cannon that got Smith home.
East Texas regained a 5-3 lead in the 7th but the Bombers answered with four runs to bottom half to win it.
Smith homered to even the game at five and Morgan Mickan's RBI single put the Bombers ahead to stay.
Game two of the series is Wednesday night in Kilgore at 7:05 p.m. If the Pump Jacks win, they will host the deciding game three Thursday at 7:05 p.m.
