BRYAN, TX -- Brazos Valley Bombers are delighted to welcome back third baseman Brad Porras to the 2012 team, along with first year Bomber Franco Pace, pitcher. Both just finished their junior year playing for Texas A&M Corpus Christi. The Bombers look forward to an exciting season with these two additions.
6'5” third baseman from Houston, Brad Porras, returns to the Bombers for his second year. Porras played at Wharton Junior College his freshman and sophomore years where he was an all-conference selection in 2010 and a Junior College All-Star in 2011. Porras then joined the Islanders at Texas A&M Corpus Christi where he leads the team with 4 triples. He has played 45 games this year with 2 homeruns and 14 RBI.
Native Canadian, Franco Pace, played two years at Texarkana College where Pace was named to the JuCo All-Star game after helping the Bulldogs win a conference championship his freshman year. While attending Texarkana College Pace was a Dean's List honoree all four semesters. The left handed relief pitcher then transferred to Texas A&M Corpus Christi appearing in 16 games.
The Bombers will host a total of 30 regular-season home games during the summer against the other TCL members. The Acadiana Cane Cutters, Alexandria Aces, East Texas Pump Jacks, McKinney Marshals, Victoria Generals and Woodlands Strykers will all make trips to Brazos Valley Bank Ballpark to take on the Bombers this summer.
The first game of the 2012 season is June 6th. The Bombers are trying to make history by having the first opening day sell out!
