Cliff Vaughn provided the late-inning heroics tonight, as the Brazos Valley Bombers rallied for a 3-2 win over the Victoria Generals in 11 innings. The game was also Saturday Giveaways night at Brazos Valley Bank Ballpark, as the Bombers gave away nearly 500 pint glasses to the lucky fans in attendance.

Vaughn did not take long to show why he belongs with the Bombers, as he knocked home the winning run in the 11th inning in a 3-2 win over the Generals. Vaughn, who was a member of the 2008 Bombers, made his return to the team tonight and came through with a single that scored Joe Craven to win the game.

The Bombers trailed 2-1 for most of the game, but tied things up in the eighth inning, following a couple of clutch hits from the middle of the Bombers’ order. John Hale brought the crowd to its feet with a double to deep left-center field. Just as they had begun to quiet down, Brett Parsons brought the roars right back with a sharp single to right field that scored Hale to tie the game at two.

Joaquin Hinojosa, who picked up his second win of the season, held the Generals in check during the extra frames, as he struck out five hitters in the 10th and 11th innings.

The fireworks began in the bottom of the 11th, as Joe Craven stole second base to put himself in scoring position as Vaughn came to the plate. Looking determined as ever, Vaughn promptly lined Zach Nuding’s 2-1 pitch to right field and Craven came sliding home ahead of the tag to score the winning run.

The Bombers improved to 14-11 with the win, which dropped the Generals to 18-10 on the season. Brazos Valley will be hosting Coppell tomorrow for Slovacek Sunday, which will feature $1 Sausages and a free Nintendo Wii giveaway.
