BRYAN, TX -- With opening day on June 2 the Bombers have completed their roster for the 2010 season with the addition of four players. The first of the players added is New Mexico Junior College pitcher Levi Saenz. In his second season with the Thunderbirds, the Andrews, Texas, native led the team in starts, innings pitched, and earned run average. Saenz will be a central part of the Bombers rotation this season as the team eyes its first Texas Collegiate League Title.
The Bombers also announced today that the team has signed Tanner Toal, a sophomore from Howard College, for the 2010 season. This year Toal batted his way to a .351 average and a .473 on base percentage as a catcher for the Hawks. The quiet confidence Toal displays in the batter’s box, behind the plate, and in the clubhouse will keep his teammates focused and excited.
University of New Orleans standout Rodarrick Jones will be joining the Bombers. The Louisiana native declined to sign with the Houston Astros being drafted out of high school, choosing instead to hone his skills in college. Jones led New Orleans in stolen bases in 2009 and has shown tremendous leadership in his two years with the Privateers. The sophomore was named the number three prospect in the New York Collegiate Baseball League this past summer by Baseball America.
The last piece of the Bombers puzzle this season is Cameron Dullnig, a utility infielder from Western Carolina University. The sophomore has been at the center of the Catamounts success this season, playing in all but one of his teams’ games, hitting .282 and stealing 15 bases. The speed, solid defense, and versatility Cameron brings to the Bombers will give Head Coach Brent Alumbaugh flexibility in setting his defense this summer.
