BRYAN, TX -- The Brazos Valley Bombers are excited not only to announce Curt Dixon as head coach, but the addition of four of Coach Dixon's Eastern Oklahoma State Mountaineers to the 2012 roster. Luis Dejesus, Mason Justice, and Logan Taylor will bolster the pitching staff while Kevin Lamb provides a solid presence behind the plate. Dejesus, Justice, Taylor and Lamb should all prove to be valuable additions as the Bombers make a run at their first TCL championship this August.
A 6'3” 235 pound right-handed pitcher, Luis DeJesus joins the Bombers this summer much talent and potential. DeJesus, Oklahoma native, helped lead Collinsville High School to a class 5A state championship as a senior year. Dejesus was ranked by perfect game as one of the top 200 junior college prospects for 2012. Luis has had offers from mid major Division 1 schools but has not decided on a school for next season. Coach Dixon made a comment on Luis, “Luis is a great player and even better person. Luis is a joy to have on our team. He is originally from Puerto Rico and moved to Oklahoma as sophomore in high school. He is a strike thrower with three plus pitches. He can start, relieve or close. He can pitch in any role which really makes him special and he will be a great addition to the bombers pitching staff.”
Standing at 6'4” and 206 pounds, Mason Justice brings power and speed to the mound this summer. Justice was a 21st round draft pick out of high school by the Boston Red Sox, but decided to sign with Eastern Oklahoma. Mason is the Mountaineers closer, and along with teammate, Luis DeJesus, was rated by perfect game as one of the top 200 junior college prospects for 2012. “Mason is a special player to have. Not too many people have on their resume drafted out of high school let alone in 21st round. Mason has big time arm strength; fastball has been up to 94 this spring. Mason also has a good slider and change-up and he is a very coach-able player. Look forward in having him in the Bombers bullpen this summer,” Coach Dixon said regarding Justice.
The new-comer right-handed pitcher, Logan Taylor is a 6'5” 242 pound monster. As a freshman, Logan pitched for the University of Arkansas. Currently at Eastern, Taylor is a full-force starter. Logan was rated by perfect game as one of the top 200 junior college prospects for 2012, making the Bombers stacked with three top 200 junior college prospects. When asked about Taylor, Coach Dixon stated, “Logan is a player that comes along every once in awhile. Has a fastball that sets 91-94 a true 12-6 curve-ball and a plus change-up. What he has done so far this spring is unbelievable. He has been lights out on the mound for us. He is a perfectionist and a student of the game. Logan will be one of the starting pitchers for the Bombers.”
Kevin Lamb, a 6'0” 200 pound catcher, joins teammates in the Brazos Valley this summer in hopes to bring home the TCL Championship. At Bixby high school in Oklahoma, Kevin was a standout baseball player and an All-State high school quarterback. Lamb signed this past November with Creighton University for next season and is looking to improve even more this summer with the Bombers. Describing Lamb Coach Dixon said, "Kevin is my kind of catcher, he handles the pitching staff, great catch and throw, and solid at the plate. Kevin is the total package and I am looking forward to having him this summer."
The Bombers will host a total of 30 regular-season home games during the summer against the other TCL members. The Acadiana Cane Cutters, Alexandria Aces, East Texas Pump Jacks, McKinney Marshals, Victoria Generals and Woodlands Strykers will all make trips to Brazos Valley Bank Ballpark to take on the Bombers this summer.
