Brazos Valley Bank Ballpark and welcomed the eccentric and entertaining Reggy the Purple Party Dude Saturday night, as the Bombers jumped on the visiting Alexandria Aces early and never looked back, taking the game 5-2 and earning a series sweep. The victory over Alexandria wrapped up an outstanding homestand for the Bombers, where they won three of their four contests.
The Brazos Valley Bombers offense tallied three runs early against the Alexandria starter Ben Suit in what turned out to be enough to down the Aces. The middle of the Bomber lineup was terrific all night. The two through five batters accounted for six hits, two RBIs and two runs scored. This included two for four performances from Aggie shortstop Scott Arthur, who also drove in two runs, and designated hitter John Hale.
Bombers starter Jake Moser was absolutely locked in on the mound. Moser pitched a practically spotless outing for the home side, spraying six Aces' hits over seven full innings, surrendering zero runs and striking out six. The Aces tried to mount a late, ninth inning, comeback but the Bombers lead was too much and lefty Andrew Massey was able to secure the Brazos Valley win.
Much of the evening's festivities revolved around Reggy the Purple Party Dude and included cakes and sweets from Fabulous Fare. Reggy had the crowd going all night long on Kids Free Night presented by Chicken Express. Reggy was up to his usual ways between innings and during the game, dancing on dugouts, performing hysterical skits and hanging out with the kids. His annual stop in the Brazos Valley was nothing short of “fun, fun, fun” for children and adults alike.
The team will now travel to Acadiana to square off against the hosting Cane Cutters for a two game set on Monday and Tuesday. After that series is compete, the Bombers will be back home to welcome the East Texas Pump Jacks on July 13th and 14th . Be sure to come out to Angry Bird Wednesday and then to Pepper Night that Thursday, where the first one hundred fans will be treated to a free coupon for chips and salsa from Chili's.
