The Bombers continue to steamroll anyone who dares to stand in their way, destroying the Coppell Copperheads in front of their own fans by a score of 8-0. With the victory, the team moved into a three-way tie for first place in the TCL, with the East Texas Pump Jacks and the Acadiana Cane Cutters also sharing the lead. The Bombers are playing easily the best baseball of the bunch, winning their last 7 games, and 11 of their last 12 overall.
The Bombers were led by their big bats, and as always, their dominant pitching staff. Trey Porras responded to being named TCL Player of the Week with a 3-4 night, which included a double and two runs batted in. His performance raised his TCL-leading batting average to .469, and he continues to put distance between himself and the rest of the league. Not wanting to be outdone, his brother Brad Porras hit a two-run home run in the third inning, and Brennyn Smith joined the party when he hit his third home run of the season in the 6th inning.
On the mound, Jake Moser was nasty, scattering 5 hits in 6 innings of work, while Jameson Holt and Andrew Massey combined to allow just one hit in the final three frames. While the starting pitching in particular has garnered much of the attention lately, it’s been a total team effort on the mound for the Bombers, as they’ve allowed a mere 9 runs during their current 7-game winning streak.
The Bombers wrap up their 4 game road trip and Saturday against the Copperheads before returning home to Brazos Valley Bank Ballpark next Monday, where fans are thrilled about the UPA Kids Zone being 100% FREE to all kids in attendance. Next Tuesday's game is Guaranteed Win Night at the ballpark, brought to you by Jones & Lowe Agency, where if the Bombers fail to deliver a win, every fan in the park will be able to get into another game FREE of charge.
