The Brazos Valley Bombers are proud to announce the addition of two talented Oklahoma Sooners for this upcoming season. Freshman utility player Brian Brightwell and sophomore catcher Dylan Neal look to strengthen the defense this season en route to a TCL championship. The Bombers have high hopes that these new faces will only add to the high expectations of this summer.
Oklahoma native, Brian Brightwell, was a highly sought after recruit who chose to sign with the Sooners. In high school, Brightwell was a four-year letter-winner at Putnam City High School and finished with an impressive .399 batting average, 22 RBIs, 2 home runs and 14 stolen bases. As a senior, Brian was named All-State and All-City. Currently as a freshman at Oklahoma, Brightwell is posting striking stats. In the series against Texas Tech, Brian not only experienced his first career game start but had consecutive games posting two hits, an RBI, and one run scored. Continuing the rally, Brightwell went on to make a three game hitting streak against Oral Roberts University. Showing great consistency this season, the Bombers look forward to adding Brian Brightwell to the roster this summer.
6’2” catcher, Dylan Neal, joins the Bombers for the first time this summer from McKinney, Texas. At McKinney Boyd High School, Neal lettered three years and was named All-District and Honorable Mention All-Area. In his freshman year, Neal competed for Blinn Junior College posting a .309 batting average, two doubles, and 13-batted runs in. Transferring to Oklahoma as a sophomore, Dylan joined to the Sooners with full force. Starting 12 of the last 16 games, Neal has guarded the plate for Oklahoma, while adding to the Sooners offense with 7 hits and 6 RBIs.
The Bombers will host a total of 30 regular-season home games during the summer against the other TCL members. The Acadiana Cane Cutters, Alexandria Aces, East Texas Pump Jacks, McKinney Marshals, Victoria Generals and Woodlands Strykers will all make trips to Brazos Valley Bank Ballpark to take on the Bombers this summer.
