BRYAN, Texas -- After a 16-7 loss, the Bombers were able to bounce back the next night with a 8-1 victory against the Pump Jacks.
A pitching duel ruled the night at American Momentum Bank Ballpark until the Bombers were able to finally string together a couple of runs in the bottom of the 4th inning. Brett Kauten singled to start off the 4th bringing up G.R. Hinsley, who hit a two run homerun, extending his HR total to five. Logan Burch continued to average less than ten pitches per inning as the Pump Jacks grounded themselves out. The Bombers quickly extended the lead in the bottom of the 5th, scoring on a bases loaded wild pitch and a RBI sacrifice fly by G.R. Hinsley.
It seemed as if every inning was a three up three down for the Bombers because of Burch’s quick work. The Bombers tacked on another run in the 7th off a RBI single by Brett Kauten to bring in Andy Smith making it 5-0. The game started to get ugly in the bottom of the 8th after Matt Smith hit a RBI single that went under the left fielders glove, which brought another run in on the error. Blake Kopetsky grabbed a RBI of his own with a sacrifice fly to center field making it 8-0. Logan Burch, who is normally in relief for the Bombers, pitched an extravagant game going the distance and striking out five with 0 earned runs.
The Bombers will face the Cane Cutters on Thursday, Aug 1, 7:05 P.M. at American Momentum Bank Ballpark.
