News 3 Sports would like to congratulate our latest classroom champion Shameka Grimes. The Calvert High School senior has a 3.51 grade point average and has been on the A Honor Roll throughout High School. She's currently the valedictorian of her class. Shameka is the class president, a member of the National Honor Society, Student Council, and the F.F.A. She has participated in Pennies for Patients, the Robertson County Fair and is actively involved in various community service projects. Shameka is the captain of the cheer squad and is a member of the Calvert High School Band.
Athletically, Shameka plays volleyball, basketball and is a Trojan cheerleader.
"She's a good role model, even for the girls her age. They look up to her, the see how she is - She's involved in a lot of extra curricular activities, F.F.A. and stuff and she knows what she's talking about. They rely on her on and off the court," says her Coach, Brandi Krnovek.
"I try to make sure my classmates are on board with the class work. I also try to make sure my team's attitude is well - we are disciplined and dedicated to the sport or to the activity we're doing. I've learned a lot of lifetime skills such as determination, discipline, and responsibility and teamwork most of all. Just coming out and working hard," Shameka says.
Shameka plans on attending University of Houston to study pre - med.
