It’s time now to crown another Classroom Champion and this week we congratulate Macy Hicks of A&M Consolidated High School.
News 3 Sports would like to congratulate our latest classroom champion Macy Hicks. The A&M Consolidated High School senior has a 4.3 grade point average, and is currently ranked in the top ten percent of her class.
Macy is a member of the Lady Tiger softball team. She was selected Honorable Mention as a pitcher in her district. She was also selected to the All Brazos valley Academic Team. Macy's also a member of the National Honor Society, the Symphony Belles Service Club, and she's a 4-H Club officer. Macy is a 4-H State Champion, and she won a ten thousand dollar scholarship at the San Antonio Livestock Show. She is very active at her school and church.
“Now with the Spanish, she really really likes to learn the language. She wants to be ahead; she doesn't like to be behind. I think she loves Spanish, she loves learning languages and she knows it's going to get her far. She's in this AP class and it's very very intense. So she has to prove to herself that very very well when she's in this class."
“First I think it starts at home. She has great parents that instilled the sense of pride of doing things the right way. She wants well for herself and she's proud of what she does...And she wants to be the best. Not just on the field, but she wants to do it in the classroom to because we know that academics is going to get you the farthest in life. She understands that, and does everything she can to ensure that she's going to be great at it ."
“I think one of the biggest parts of leadership is leading by example. Because it's the easiest for others to follow. Of course I try to do that on the softball field just by always doing the best that I can. The same thing for in the classroom...Always paying attention and being respectful and just working to the best of my abilities."
Macy plans on attending Texas A&M University and double majoring in Business.
Congratulations to Macy Hicks of A&M Consolidated High School. This week’s News 3 Sports Classroom Champion!
