News 3 Sports would like to congratulate our latest classroom champion D'Raye Morgan. The Bremond senior is ranked in the top ten percent of his class and serves as the FCA president. He's also been in the National Honor Society for 2 years, and is a member of the Spanish club. D'raye's teachers say he's the kind of student that'll do what it takes to succeed both on the field and and in the classroom.
“I just think he's really good at adjusting himself to whatever comes along, and I know that he's the type of person that if he is struggling he's going to seek that help he needs if he's going to be successful, he's just a very unique person and I'm really thrilled that I've had the opportunity to teach him. ”
“I just believe that in everything you do you just give 100 percent. And education comes first. Because you need an education in life, if you don't have an education you wouldn't have anything.”
“D'raye doesn't goof off, you have to lead by example if you're going to be a captain, and that's what he is, and, you know he gains that respect through his hard work, and his peers see that, so that s why they follow him.”
Athletically, D'raye is a 4 year member of the tiger football program, a member of the regional qualifying varsity basketball, and runs track in the spring. Even with his hard work, he helps keep morale up for his teammates.
“D'raye's got kind of a unique sense of humor, and I think that's part of it. You can't just go out there and work and work and work constantly and not have a little bit of a laugh occasionally, and D'raye brings that along with his leadership abilities, he has a personality.”
“Its always the people that laugh that no matter what on the team that keep everybody happy. I think a little bit of laughter solves a little bit of everything.”
D'raye hasn't decided on a college yet, but he's looking into Texas, Prairie View and TCU.
Congratulations to D'Raye Morgan of Bremond High School. This week’s News 3 Sports Classroom Champion.
