News 3 Sports would like to congratulate our latest classroom champion Kelsey Lagrone. The centerville senior has a 4.26 Grade point average and ranks 2nd in her class. Kelsey is a 2 year member of the National Honor Society, and has been a class officer for 3 years. She's also a member of the Fellowship of christian students, the treasurer of the Junior statesmen of america, and a member of the future chamber of commerce. She's been on the All 'A' honor roll every year, and has been a UIL Regional Qualifier in computer applications, and Editorial writing. Kelsey has received the Bonnie Easterling Award, for her love of her school, and her respect for her teachers and community.
"Honestly, she's liked by everyone," said Lisa Noey, Kelsey's teacher, "she's one of those students you don't have to tell to get to work, she always puts 110% into everythign she does, whether its on the volleyball court or in the classroom, she strives to do her best everyday."
Athletically, Kelsey is a 16 time letter winner for Volleyabll, Basketball, track and tennis. She was the district defensive player of the year for volleyball her junior year, all district honorable mention for basketball, and a regional qualifier for tboth the 800 meter run and the 4 X 4 relay. She was also a state qualifier for mixed doubles.
"Athletics has just taught me to give 110%in everything I do," said Lagrone, "whether it be in academics or in sports, and it's taught me that um, to dedicate myself in whatever I do, and discipline myself to do the very best I can no matter the circumstance."
Kelsey plans on attending Texas A&M to study Allied health, and later Nursing.
