News 3 Sports would like to congratulate our latest classroom champion Jose Garcia. The Snook senior has a 4.96 Grade point average and ranks 1st in his class. He's a member of the National Honor Society, FFA, and FCA. Jose is also completing dual credit classes for college. His easy going attitude helps him to get along with his teachers and his peers.
"Jose Garcia is a real pleasure to have as a student," said Doug Bryant, Jose's teacher. "He is an outstanding young man. Jose has a very cheerful attitude, he's very cooperative, he's very intelligent, he's a hard working athlete he's a very hard working student."
Athletically, Jose is a member of the Varsity Basketball team at Snook high school, he also plays Baseball, Golf and runs Cross Country.
"It's a big part of school," said Garcia, "show your spirit for your school, your friends, your teammates become your family, there's a lot of great things about athletics."
"Jose brings a lot of leadership to our team," said Coach Duane Fikac. "He's a senior, we can always count on him to direct us and put us in the right direction. It's kind of like having another coach out on the floor. He's always kinda directing other people and talking to them,and kinds just helping everybody out. He really brings another dimension to our team."
"Being a senior I've got to step up and teach the younger guys," said Garcia, "just give them good advice and tell them to keep going even when some things not going right for them."
Jose plans on attending Texas A&M to obtain a major in public resources.
