Katie has been on the Headmasters honor roll all 4 years of high school, and is a national merit scholar, and a state qualifier in UIL Poetry.
“Katie has an outgoing personality. She's very, very outgoing as far as helping people, trying to be involved in everything, she leads a lot as far as a cheerleader, she leads in NHS, she's outspoken in almost every avenue of student life, and she's also heavily involved in keeping the students in touch with what's going on around campus. ”
Athletically, Katie plays basketball, is the captain of the varsity cheerleaders, and manager for the baseball team. She received the Heart award when she was on the junior Varsity basketball team, and has received the heart award for Cheerleading.
“Athletics is something you have to be dedicated to, you can't put 5% into it, something that's got to be 110% you have to be really committed and focused on doing the best you can do. It's important to step up and be the best you can be, and that challenges me both with athletics and academics, and what I want to do I want to be the best I can possibly be in life."
“She really brings a very selfless attitude and she's really lately just clicked and aunderstood the game and how it works and how the team works and so she's been really exciting and a joy to have on the team."
“This year I've really enjoyed just playing, and being able to encourage the younger girls, and not, I don't want to put that pressure on them that I've ever felt, I like encouraging them, and making everything better.”
Katie is looking to attend either the University of Texas or Texas A&M and majoring in Communications.
Congratulations to Katie Shaub of Brazos Christian School. This week’s News 3 Sports Classroom Champion.
