News 3 Sports would like to congratulate our latest classroom champion Mallorie Hohlt. The Burton senior has a 3.37 grade point average and ranks 6th in her class. She's the president of the Burton 4-H, and a 4 year member of Beta club, and the FFA, where she received the Lone Star Degree. She's also enrolled in dual credit classes at Blinn.
"Mallorie is an excellent student, she's a hard worker, she's always volunteering answers in class, if she's ever confused, she's not afraid to ask for help. When she's gone for sports she always comes in and makes up her work, she goes the extra mile, she's a very great student."
Athletically, Mallorie plays volleyball, basketball and softball. Her freshman year she received All District Honorable Mention honors in volleyball, and 1st team All District honors for softball. She was an All District setter and MVP for volleyball and a 2nd team All District in basketball in 2008. Last year she was on the all state softball team. Her experience on the court and positive attitude are assets for her coaches, especially since she's the only senior on the Lady Panther basketball team.
"I try to work hard in the classroom and then bring it out here, you know, and try to motivate my team just like I motivate myself to do good in the classroom."
"She is everything a coach could ask for, she's a leader not only in sports, but a leader in the classroom. She was my only senior on the basketball team and she excels in more than just one sport, I understand she was very good in volleyball, and I'm looking forward to watching her in softball."
Mallorie plans on continuing her athletic career at Tarleton State, while majoring in education.
Congratulations to Mallorie Hohlt of Burton High School. This week’s News 3 Sports Classroom Champion.
