“Alec is a really good student, he's always very polite and very respectful. He's been, really a leader for, of course our football team this year, but also in all the other sports that he plays, and you can kind of just see that he's one of those people that the kids look up to. Because he's always friendly to everybody, and always treats everybody with resepct, always tries to help everybody out, he's just a really good natured kid. ”
Athletically, Alec is a 4 time letter winner in Football, Basketball, Baseball and Track. He's the team captain for the varsity football team, and his accolades include 1st and 2nd team All District quarteback, and Offensive MVP. He placed 3rd at state for the long jump his sophomore year, and 1st place in the regional meet which qualified him for state last year.
“Well we've had success in football, and he brings that success over to basketball and then carries on to baseball and on to track. So he's a great leader on and off the court.”
“The leadership I try to provide is more so for the up and coming athletes. I try to be a role model for the young ones, so they have something to look forward to their whole high school career. ”
Alec's leadership skills and strong work ethic can be attributed to his philosphy on life.
“If you just push yourself to your limits and just know that something good is going to come out of it, you'll always be successful.”
Alec is currently undecided on his post high school plans, but is hoping to play collegeiate football.
Congratulations to Alec Castilleja of St. Jospeh Catholic School. This week’s News 3 Sports Classroom Champion.
