News 3 Sports would like to congratulate our latest Classroom Champion Patrick McCullough. The Franklin senior has a 4.0 grade point average and ranks number 1 in his class. He's a member of the National Honor Society, the Spanish Club, Fellowship of Christian Students, the Student Council, and the Wheelock 4-H. Patrick took 2nd place at the National FFA Agriscience Fair, and is a 2009 NASA Texas Aerospace Scholar.
"Patrick is an overall outstanding student, who not only excels in the classroom, but the playing field as well and he's just definitely one of those who will come in early in the morning and stay as long as he has to, to get the job done. There's not really anything wrong you can say about Patrick, he's just an outstanding student "
"I always try to take it upon myself to be the leader in the class, to try and always go above what the teacher would require. I always try and strive for excellence whether it be on the field or in the classroom, and that 100 always looks really nice."
Athletically, Patrick plays football and baseball. He helped lead the Lions to back to back District Championships in football, and has received both Honorable Mention All District, and First Team All District honors.
"Patrick brings a lot more than just athletic ability, he does have a lot of athletic ability but he's a great leader for our young kids. He's taken some of our freshmen under his wing and helped mentor them as far as change of positions for some of them. Academically, he helped us out quite a bit last year in tutoring in the classroom as well as on the field. So he helps us in many many different ways."
Patrick is still deciding between the University of Texas and Stanford where he will study engineering.
Congratulations to Patrick McCullough of Franklin High School. This week’s News 3 Sports Classroom Champion.
