News 3 Sports would like to congratulate our latest Classroom Champion Charli Court. The Allen Academy senior has a 4.12 grade point average. She's a member of Junior Leadership Brazos, the Editor in Chief of the schools' newspaper, a member of the Honor Council, and participates in peer mentoring. She's competed at the state level in duet acting and at the district level in acting, poetry, and social studies. She has also won various awards for her photography, paintings and drawings.

"As a teacher, I feel like she exemplifies what I want to see in a student. She's well rounded, has goals, knows how to get to those goals. Her academics are her greatest assest in my opinion, but she's able to combine it with the atheltics, with all the volunteer work, and all the peer mentoring in school, and still be successful in all of it."

Athletically, Charli has varsity letters in volleyball, softball, soccer and track and field. Her ability to mentor and teach new players are just a couple of reasons why she is an asset to the Lady Ram softball team.

"Her ability to reach out and assist those has been remarkable. She's basically taken charge. She won't always pair up with her best friend or something like that, she'll actually go out and pair up to throw with someone that needs a little bit more assistance. She's kinda doing peer mentoring out on the field. So it's been pretty remarkable to watch someone with her caliber out there, getting out there and teaching others, so I dont have to do all of the coaching."

"Being a senior on a sports team is really important, because all the under classmen look up to you as a leader, and they look up to you for encouragement and motivation and its really importatnt that I try to be the best role model that I can be so in a few years when they're seniors they can be a leader to."

Charli plans on attending Southwestern University to obtain a biology degree, on her way to studying medicine.
