News 3 Sports would like to congratulate our latest Classroom Champion Jordy Denson. The Lovelady senior has a 95.83 average and ranks 4th in his class. He's a member of the National Honor Society, Student Council and the FFA.

"He's not just a star on the field and on the track, he's also a star in the classroom. A gentleman, he's very well mannered, he's just an all around good student."

Athletically, Jordy is 3 year starter for the Lions football team. He was voted Most Valuable Player for District 22A his senior year. He's also a member of the track and field team, where he was a Regional Qualifier in the 400m dash, the 4X400 relay, and he also took the bronze in pole vaulting.

Jordy not only puts time and effort into his school work and athletics, he also competes with the Texas High School Rodeo Association. In 2008 he was a Reserve Champion Header for team roping, and was named to the 2008-2009 Wrangler All Star Team.

"He doesn't say a whole lot, he leads by example, but when they see him out here, when its cold, when its wet, you know he's as tired as anybody on the team, that rubs off, and Jordy's that type of kid, he's not a real vocal type guy, but he just leads by example."

"Athletics has been a big part of my life, since I was young I was in rodeo always competing, I guess that why I've been so competitive and its crossed over into the classroom if you're going to really win in life and become what you want to be, you gotta have that competitive nature wherever you go, and whatever you do."

Jordy is looking into going to either Tarleton State University or Sam Houston State, and hopes to continue his football career.
