News 3 Sports would like to congratulate our latest classroom champion Clint Brown. The New Waverly senior has a 4.5 Grade point average and is in advanced placement classes.
Clint is the class treasurer, a member of Beta Honor Roll Society and participates in several UIL Academics, including Headline, Editorial and Ready Writing. He is a member of 4-H and FFA, and has volunteered with many organizations.
"He's self motivated. I think that's a big deal with kids that are in honors courses and that are athletes - they're motivated to do it on their own. They don't need somebody to constantly remind them. They ask questions - they want to know about life. They want to know what the future will bring. The question things about life and that's the nice thing about having Clint."
Athletically, Clint plays Varsity golf, football, baseball and runs cross country. He qualified for Regionals in cross country his junior year and was a semi-finalist in the Arizona Fall Baseball Tournament. This year, Clint hopes to help lead the Bulldog baseball team to a state championship.
"We're looking to them to hopefully get us to where everybody wants to go this year and we're leaning on them for their experience, for their know how, for - in those situations were you really need those guys to step up - Clint's done that this year. There's not limit on what he can do, not only at the high school level, but what he can do at the next level. We see nothing but a bright future for Clint."
"Being a leader on the team is a huge part for me because it's my senior year, the first year with lights and we've got a great shot at winning state and that's the ultimate goal this year. Chemistry is our biggest thing with the team. I love everybody on the team and we all get along great and hopefully that'll be the key we ride to state. Coach Bohannon jokes around with us, but he gets serious when it's' time to be serious. Doing all the little things on and off the field is what I think makes us a really good baseball team. "
Clint is aiming to continue his baseball career at the collegiate level and has been recruited by a few schools and has received one solid offer.
Congratulations to Clint Brown of New Waverly High School. This week’s News 3 Sports Classroom Champion.
