It’s time now to crown another Classroom Champion and this week we congratulate Jeremy Zdunkewicz of Bryan High School.
News 3 Sports would like to congratulate our latest classroom champion Jeremy Zdunkewicz. The Bryan High senior has a 4.1 Grade point average and ranks 55th in his class.
Jeremy is a member of the National Honor Society, was named to "Who's Who Among High School Students" and received the National English Merit Award. Jeremy participates in the Chamber's Junior Leadership Brazos and is a Sports Camp Assistant at Central Baptist Church.
“Jeremy is very goal-oriented. He knows exactly what he wants to do, and he knows the steps he needs to do to make his goals a reality… He does this not only in the classroom, but on the field. He's also extremely dedicated in school, and that dedication also heads out on the field with him,” said he teacher Lisa Prejean.
Athletically, Jeremy plays baseball and football. He was was named 1st Team All District Wide Receiver and academic all district and all state teams in football. He received the Academic Award for baseball in 2009 and plays Select Baseball for the Brazos Valley Renegades.
“I've watched him since he was a little bitty kid, and he's grown up to play football, baseball and soccer, and he's always been a competitor and always brought a little something extra to the team,” said his baseball coach.
“You've got to persist. Never give up on anything. I almost gave up on football, actually, but I chose not to, and it's turned out to be one of the best decisions…” said Jeremy Zdunkewicz
Coach Bob Bellard had this to say, “You know, he's always been able to go do some things, he's always been extremely quick, but the thing that probably ended up being special about Jeremy is his commitment level to what we were doing and his commitment to our football team… Normally wide receivers aren't the greatest blockers in the world, but he's the best one I've been around since I've been coaching. And he's not a big guy, his tenacity just made him special- and maybe an all district receiver.”
Jeremy plans on attending Texas A&M University and major in Marketing in the Mays College of Business.
Congratulations to Jeremy Zdunkewicz of Bryan High School. This week’s News 3 Sports Classroom Champion.
