It’s time now to crown another Classroom Champion and this week we congratulate Casey Grice of A&M Consolidated High School High School.
News 3 Sports would like to congratulate our latest classroom champion, Casey Grice. The A&M Consolidated senior has a 4.3 Grade point average and ranks 24th in her class.
Casey was a TAGC Super Academic All State Selection in 2009, and named a member of the Hewlett Packard AJGA All American Team. She was also nominated for a Wendy's High School Heisman. Casey is a member of the National Honor Society, United Way Youth Leadership Council, and Christ United Methodist Church, where she volunteers as a tutor.
AP Statistics teacher, Stoney Pryor, says, “Her schedule is outrageously full, and for her to continue to be able to achieve academically at the high level she does is really very impressive... She's not simply taking the class to get an A or whatever the grade is, although she does, it's really a desire to learn, and to understand something new and to see the world from a different perspective. So that goes to show a lot about a student, who takes a class that in my case is not a required course, she's just doing that it because she wants to…"
Athletically, Casey plays Girls Varsity Golf and is currently ranked 41st worldwide by Junior Girls Golfweek. In 2008, she was the state champion in 5A Girls golf and has been the district individual champion and an A&M Consolidated MVP three years running.
“She really is the epitome of what the student athlete is. She's just extremely devoted to the game and loves to play the game… In my 35 years of coaching she has been one of the true delights to be associated with…. Casey, representing the top of our golf team, she's always got a smile, she's quick to laugh at everything, she loves to joke and kid around with her teammates. I think they all just respect her immensely,” said Coach Mike Terral.
Casey Grice had this say about herself, “I've definitely taken over one of the main leadership roles on our team… because I've had so much success at the sport and I've worked hard at it, and with success comes some type of leadership role. I really just try and help out the team as much as I can… To be there for them, cheer them on, and hopefully we'll make it to State this year and just play well and have fun.”
Casey plans on attending the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill on a full scholarship to obtain a major in Graphic Design or Speech Therapy.
Congratulations to Casey Grice of A&M Consolidated High School. This week’s News 3 Sports Classroom Champion.
