News 3 Sports would like to congratulate our latest Classroom Champion Hayden Garlin. The Round Top-Carmine High School senior has a 4.0 Grade Point Average and he's currently the Valedictorian of his class.

Hayden is a member of the track, baseball, basketball, golf, and tennis teams. He was selected to the All-District team in all of those sports. In track, his teammates nominated him as the MVP, and in baseball he was All District 1st Team Utility Infielder. Hayden has also received numerous awards in livestock and rodeo shows. He's also been selected to the Academic All District Team as well. Hayden is his senior class president, FFA Officer, a member of the Beta Club, Yearbook Staff, and a member of the Lutheran Youth Organization. He's also very active in his church, school, and his community.

"Hayden is a very real rounded individual. He's very likable by everybody. He's a very respectful student, he cooperates, he does his work on time, he's really a true champion. I think he wants to excel at everything he does. Hayden is a very interesting individual. He really likes to give 100 percent in what he does. And he has some really good background values that instill in him the need to excel."

"Well Hayden, first of all, is a nice guy to coach. He's a leader on and off the floor. He's only one of two seniors we have the rest are sophomores and juniors. He really leads by example; guys follow what he does. He works hard, he's the first one out here everyday; last one to leave...And just somebody they can really learn from."

"Being a leader on the team hasn't been easy; because there has been other seniors on the team that have been taking charge. And this year I've just kind of got thrown into the role with a bunch of younger kids. To do that, I just kind of tell them what to do and I try to manage the team the best way I can to help us win."

Hayden plans on attending Texas A&M University and majoring in biology.

Congratulations to Hayden Garlin of Round Top-Carmine High School. This week's News 3 Sports Classroom Champion!
