News 3 Sports would like to congratulate our latest Classroom Champion, Clayton Hudson. The Bryan High School senior has a 4.3 GPA and is currently ranked thirteenth in his class.
Clayton is a member of the Viking Golf Team. He has been named 1st Team All-District for the past two seasons. And last year, Clayton was 12-5A District Champion. Clayton is also involved in the school choir, 4H, and his church's youth group. Academically, Clayton won the award for the Most Outstanding Chemistry Student.
"Clayton's an outstanding student! Great work habits! I've got him in AP Chemistry….He's got the ability to think like a scientist; but he's also got the work habits that allow him to be successful. Well you know there are some kids some students that I don't want to say perfectionist. But they strive to be the best they can be. I think the same thing that leads Clayton to success on the golf course leads to success in the classroom.
"I don't know whether you call him an achiever of whatever, but he has that drive to do a good job at everything he does. There was a time earlier in his golf career when he wasn't real sure whether he wanted to play baseball or whether he wanted to play golf. Last year things kind of turned around for him. He got excited about golf and he began to work real hard at it. And now he's one of our most consistent workers. Really is the leader of the team in that area."
"It's definitely a challenge…Taking three AP classes it can be difficult trying to squeeze the academics with the golf and everything else. I mean you manage, you manage time, it's all about time management and being able to get things done ahead of time. And really striving through that…
After high school, Clayton plans on attending college and majoring in business.
Congratulations to Clayton Hudson of Bryan High School. This week's News 3 Sports Classroom Champion!
