News 3 Sports would like to congratulate our latest Classroom Champion Caleb Rabun. The Anderson-Shiro High School senior has a 3.6 Grade Point Average and is currently ranked fifth in his class.

Caleb is a member and senior leader of the Owl Baseball team. In 2011 he was named 2nd Team All-District as a catcher. Caleb is also a member of the National Honor Society, FFA, Young Life, Senior Skills Team, Campus Crime Stoppers, and he's his senior class officer. Caleb received Outstanding Achievement in Algebra II, and professional standards in in Ag, Spanish I , and Advanced Animal Science. He's also very active in his church and in Grimes County.

"Caleb definitely leads by being vocal. He has quite an active personality; but is a great addition to the senior class. And isn't shy to voice his opinion, but then he's always willing to act on it and do whats best for his class. He is very silly in the hallways and loves to joke and have a good time. He definitely knows when to get to work with his peers especially in group work settings, getting down to business and taking care of it."

"Me and him had a talk early in the season prior to us coming out. And he's taking more of a coaching role, or a assistant coaching role if you will. As far as correcting players when they're doing something wrong. He's been around the program for three years. He knows my expectations, my assistants expectations and he's kind of relaying that to the kids. We only have two sets of eyes here and he gives another set of eyes for us."

"It's been pretty hard. Because when you have baseball games that are two hours away and you get done late at night any ways and you have to come back home. It's hard to get your school work done so late at night and get so little sleep and have to wake up early for school the next morning. So it's been a struggle the past three years but I've worked through it."

Caleb plans on attending Texas State University and majoring in construction science and management.

Congratulations to Caleb Rabun of Anderson-Shiro High School. This week's News 3 Sports Classroom Champion!
