News 3 Sports would like to congratulate our latest Classroom Champion Jesha Ramirez. The Calvert High School senior has a 3.5 Grade Point Average and she's currently the valedictorian of her class.
Jesha was the captain of the volleyball team and the Trojan cheerleading squad. She's also a member of the the basketball and track teams. She was All-District and Academic All-District in basketball, volleyball, and track. Jesha is her senior class president...A member of the National Honor Society, UIL Academics, student council, and a science tutor. Jesha is also very active in the Calvert community with charities, and she's also very active at her church.
"Jesha is a very brought student. I've had her in my class since she was a freshman and she's always impressed me. She's very responsible, willing to work; she's been a pleasure to teach. I think she's motivated to do well...I think she has goals for her future, and so she works hard to achieve them."
"Jesha leads both ways. She leads by example, most definitely. I don't remember a time when I had to get on to Jesha about anything. You know she's like one of those model students, model athletes. You know, never any confrontation with any other students and also, she's not harsh with anybody. Even If I ask her to help someone else she's very patient. Even with her sister, who's on the squad with her. So we had quite the circumstances sometime, but she always did a great job."
"Being a scholar athlete is not very hard at all. Because sometimes you have to put your work and dedication into one thing and another. But it's only as hard as people make it. Because I play basketball and have a dual credit class, But I don't stress about it because I don't procrastinate about as much. And I put my time and work in to do what I have to do to get it done."
After high school, Jesha plans on attending Prairie View A&M University.
Congratulations to Jesha Ramirez of Calvert High School. This week's News 3 Sports Classroom Champion!
