News 3 Sports would like to congratulate our latest Classroom Champion, Brandon Kveton. The Bryan High School senior has a 4.46 GPA, and is currently ranked in the top 3 percent of his class.
Brandon is the starting catcher for the Bryan Viking baseball team. Last season, he won the Top GPA Academic Award and the Baseball Off Season Award. Academically, Brandon's a member of the National Honor Society, Cord of 3, and a Yearbook Editor. He is very involved in his community with volunteering at the Brazos Animal Shelter, the Salvation Army, and the Radio Mash Toy Drive.
English Teacher Lisa Prejean says, “In the classroom Brandon is definitely a person who leads by example. He always comes to class prepared; always does his work. He contributes to the quality of the classroom dialogue. He always comes to class ready to learn and that's a really important thing. And others see him do that and then they want to mirror that themselves, because they know he's successful.”
“Just the desire to be excellent in everything he does," said Head Baseball Coach David Powers. "If we're in off season, running the mile, he's trying to set a new record. If we're in the weight room, same thing. If you ask his teachers about how he's in the classroom...You know he's driven to be excellent to have those top grades. Very focused on what he wants to be in life. He knows what he wants to do educationally and obviously wants to be real good on the field.”
“Being a scholar athlete you know it has its tough times...Getting home late from a game then having a test first thing can be tough. But most off the time I don’t feel stressed because I have an off period and I can do my work then. And worry about baseball when I'm doing that; or with friends. But the majority of the time its not difficult.”
Brandon plans on attending the University of Texas in Austin and pursue a degree in Mechanical Engineering.
Congratulations to Brandon Kveton of Bryan High School. This week’s News 3 Sports Classroom Champion!
